Snowmobile Accident
On 1/24/2025, at 14:13 hours, Lorraine Fire and South Jefferson Rescue Squad were dispatched to the intersection of County Route 96 and County Route 93 in the Town of Worth for a snowmobile accident with injuries. The initial report indicated a snowmobile rollover into a creek. While units were responding, dispatch advised that there were potentially three total patients.
Upon arrival on the scene, it was determined that a snowmobile veered off the trail, went down an embankment of approximately 14 feet, and landed in a creek. Two other riders went into the water to assist the operator in distress. All patients were transported to the Lorraine Fire Station to warm up and dry off.
Chief 28-0-1 and Rescue 28-6-1 responded to the scene. A crew stood by in the station for a potential landing zone for air medical if needed. South Jefferson Rescue Squad, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, and Groffs Towing also assisted on the scene.
