Organization Motto:

Protection and Service

Welcome!

The Lorraine Volunteer Fire Company Inc. is a small, 100% volunteer fire company located in Southern Jefferson County, NY that was organized on July 20, 1962. Our main response area is completely rural, consists of homes, farms, large areas of county and state forest lands, and a few small businesses. We average about 140 calls a year. We have 23 active volunteer firefighters, 9 of whom are FF/EMT’s. We provide fire protection and EMS 1st Responder service to an area of 82 square miles: the Townships of Lorraine and Worth, a population of approximately 1270 persons.

We have several seasonal camps in our area. Also we have several snowmobile, ATV and ski trails in the area that we cover. We are located 30 miles from the largest Army installation in New York: Fort Drum, home of the 10th Mountain Division. Our district also borders two adjoining counties (Oswego and Lewis) in which we respond to calls for assistance. We provide mutual aid coverage to neighboring departments under the Jefferson County Mutual Aid plan.
